THE BAND

HANUMAN DASS (aka Robert Grayson)
Vocals, Drums , Guitar

Hanuman began his career in the USA playing (studio and/ or live) for Jai Uttal, Ram Dass, Mirabai, On Wings of Song, Michael Thompson and Esther Satterfield, among others. After arriving in Australia in 1983, Hanumans’s “song drumming” style brought him gigs with Tim Finn, Savage Garden, The Whitlams, 1927, Jerry Beckley (America), Slim Dusty, Troy Cassar-Daley, Graeme Connors, Anne Kirkpatrick, Gyan and Peter Blakely. He is a 2x Gold Guitar winner as a member of the Flying Emus, an ARIA nominee for Comedy Record of the Year (for his parody of Silverchair) and Hanuman was inducted into the National Archive of Australia for his parody about the 2010 Election “I See Red”.

VASUDHA HARTE - Vocals, Accordion

Vasudha Harte has gained recognition as a multi-talented musician as well as Actor and Musical Director. Known for her unique, distinctive original repertoire, her songs embrace a melting pot of musical styles: modern-classical-pop, jazz-groove, blue-world-tango-folk-cabaret and rap. Vasudha has performed extensively as a solo musician around Australia and Asia. As a singer and pianist/keyboard player, she has supported Australian jazz veteran Don Burrows and UK psychedelic aficionados, Gong. She has performed and recorded with musical luminaries such as James Cruickshank (Cruel Sea), Louis Burdett, Fantuzzi and Daevid Allen.

AZO BELL - GUITARS

After discovering the guitar as a child in the mid-'60s, Azo Bell has played with music. He's performed solo and with jazz, world, theatrical and experimental ensembles in Australia and many other countries. He is most legendary for his work as Ukulele master fronting the fabulously fun festival favorites "The Old Spice Boys". His method is to follow rather than direct the music. He is an alleged father of two and a pretty damn good luthier while we are at it.

ALAN PARK - Keyboards

Alan Park has been Sir Cliff Richard’s musical director and pianist for more than two decades. His impressive recording and touring career includes projects with Olivia Newton-John, Don Everley, Skunk Baxter, Manhattan Transfer, Elaine Page, and comedy artists Hale and Pace, Billy Connelly and Dame Edna.

ROD COE - Bassist

Rod Coe has played bass for over 50 years, starting in a Trad Jazz band in Christchurch NZ, and playing Top Forty, Rock, Blues, Country and Bluegrass throughout Australia. A long time bandleader of Slim Dusty’s Travelling Country Band, and producer of all Slim’s records since 1975, he also handled house production for EMI Records, including the debut album by punk legends, The Saints.  Now in Byron Bay, he maintains a busy schedule on both double and electric bass with many local bands, tours, and expanding his musical palette.

PETER WILKINS - Drums'

Grand Groovemeister Pete Wilkins has been playing drums professionally since the age of 16. He has played and recorded with many top artists, such as Rodriguez, Angus & Julius Stone, Blue King Brown, Ash Grunwald and Jim Kelly. During his tenure with roots outfit Blue King Brown Pete has toured extensively around Europe, Japan and North America opening for Santana, Michael Franti & Spearhead, John Brown's Body, and The Easy Star All-Stars.

EXTENDED FAMILY

As the band evolves, members ebb and flow. Here we honor band members emeritus who have held the groove so deftly in the past.
